Owned by multinational company Jardine Matheson. The Noon Day Gun is known as 午炮 is fired odd by a Jardine's employee everyday in the noon.

HONGKONG day 5

How to get there:
Alight from subway at Causeway Bay exit D1.

Walk along Lockchart road to Canon street then walk along Jaffe road to the world trade centre.

You will access to the Noon Day Gun through a tunnel next to a hotel, in front of the world trade centre.

The location is near the waterfront of causeway bay. So it was just a walking distance from causeway bay station.

Innitially in 1860s, The gun was fired to salute and welcome Jardine high rank status or executive of Jardine. However this practice somehow annoyed the British Naval officer that during that time thus as a result, the practice of firing a gun became a penalty for Jardines which passed on until today.

The officer stoodby there when nearly noon before marching in and fire the gun. Pedestrians or tourists were allowed to get nearer look of the gun shooting took place.

He then would ring the bell when the clock strikes noon and fire the gun.

It was my first time standing so close to watch the gun shooting and the sound was extremely loud but still bearable hahahaha.. So don't get shock and drop your phone into the sea haha.

After the ceremony? or the gun shooting, we were allowed to come in and view the gun upclose.
